Telnet protocol is used to communicate to a remote device. It is used mostly by network administrators to remotely access and manage devices such as routers, switches, servers.
Telnet protocol does not use any authentication and
encryption protocols, so it sends all the data in clear text including the
passwords. All of the above reasons make the telnet not secure because the data can be easily read by anyone in the
network.
We can use wireshark to capture the telnet packets that transmitted over the
network, and therefore you will access the router and hack the system as you will see in the video link below.
